2005 Cruise the Blues Wrap-Up ~By Doug Palen Cruise the Blues 2005 will go down in the record books as the year of SUN, MUD, & FUN! The day started out with sunny skies and a fast moist course. All of the racers and riders completed their first laps with smiles on their faces but that was soon to change. As the clock neared the 2 o’clock hour the skies suddenly clouded up over the farm and a passing thunderstorm poured down rain for 10 minutes. Suddenly those big pearly white smiles were gone as riders pushed their mud packed bikes through the login tents for lap #2. By 2:30 the sun was back shining strong but the now muddy course was taking its toll on the riders. Some called it quits but some used it as an opportunity to ‘make a run’ on the competition. By 3:30 the course was back into shape for some fast lap times but the rain had already retired some of the bikes. |
